About this place
About 60% of Ōhori Park’s 39.8 hectares is pond!? The water at its center once served as the outer moat of Fukuoka Castle 😮 Several islands sit in the pond, connected by bridges, so you can cross through the middle as part of your walk. Which sounds more tempting: circling the shore or taking the island route?
The pond’s circumference is exactly 1,921 meters, and a walking path of about 2 kilometers runs alongside it. People also cycle and jog here, with around 3,000 willows planted by the water 🚶 The bridges and Ukimido are recommended photo spots. The park is also a nationally registered monument and a registered scenic place.
In spring, Ōhori Park is a cherry-blossom destination alongside Maizuru Park and Nishi Park. In winter, illuminations shine near the north entrance 🌸 Fukuoka City Museum of Art has outdoor sculptures around it that you can see without going inside. The park is free to enter and open 24 hours, so pick a season and set aside time for a waterside walk!
