333 meters!? That's how tall Tokyo Tower stands, and it's 13 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower 😳 Designed to resemble it, this broadcast tower was built in 1958 and has stood over the Tokyo sky ever since. Look up and your neck might get tired, so start at the base and let its size sink in slowly 👀
There's a main deck at 150 meters and a top deck at 250 meters, and both give you city views. The top deck's ceiling and walls are mirrored, so the city reflects back like a kaleidoscope 🤩 The top deck opened to the public in 2018, the tower's 60th anniversary year. Photo lovers, are you ready to grab your camera? 📸
On the way down, you pass Red Tokyo Tower, which has an arcade-style feel, with eSports and VR game attractions on floors 1, 3, 4 and 5. What you planned as a quick look around can easily turn into a longer stay 🎮 If you can, go up as the sun sets and watch the lighting effect after dark 🌟
Two decks, one mirror
The main deck is 150 meters up and the top deck is 250 meters up, and both show the city. Tokyo Tower itself doesn't appear in these views, so think about where you shoot if you want the tower in the picture 🙌
Matcha and tour perks
On the morning of the 2nd and 4th Saturday each month, a tea ceremony where matcha is whisked is held on the main deck 🍵 The top deck tour includes a commemorative photo and a multilingual audio guide to the main buildings and landmarks on the skyline. A Tokyo Diamond Tour ticket also gets you into the Maple Lounge.
Red Tokyo Tower on the way
Floors 1, 3, 4 and 5 have eSports and VR game attractions, and there are many souvenir shops inside, so you can pick something up on the way out 🎁
Sunset and before you go
The views are good around sunset, and after sunset the top deck gets a special lighting effect 🌙 There is a wheelchair-accessible entrance, and top deck tour prices may differ, so check before you visit 😉
