Catch the moment a heavy gate swings open and — wow 🙊 a hidden courtyard suddenly appears where you least expect it! Join a docent-led walk through excellent hanok homes and public hanok lanes across a dozen varied courses! Step inside and listen closely as owners and guides share stories of pillars, tiles and courtyards kept alive through care over many years!

This tenth-anniversary open-house edition invites you past thresholds usually closed to passersby, with some walks asking for advance booking through the city reservation system! Entry to the wider celebration stays free, while guided places are limited so a little planning helps you slip inside calmly! Stay near Bukchon Culture Center (북촌문화센터) where calm courtyards and small exhibits give you shade before you climb uphill again!

This festive run continues over several days as part of a fourth-edition celebration linking with local festivals and partner institutions! Event guide

The Seoul Metropolitan Government will hold the 4th 〈2026 Seoul Hanok Week〉 for ten days from October 2 (Fri) to October 11 (Sun) in the areas around Bukchon and Seochon. ‘Seoul Hanok Week’ is a multicultural event featuring exhibitions, lectures/tours, hands-on activities, performances, and events that offer diverse ways to experience Seoul’s hanok, together with hanok-related institutions, organizations, and residents. It will take place in the Bukchon and Seochon areas and at Seoul’s public hanok sites; information is available through the Seoul Hanok Portal, social media, and other channels. This year, a K-living exhibition created in collaboration with brands will be introduced as a new program to showcase everyday life in Seoul hanok. In cooperation with related institutions, the festival will also expand its range of activities by operating diverse programs throughout the hanok village area, including programs linked to ‘Bukchon Day,’ Bukchon’s signature local cultural festival. ‘2026 Seoul Hanok Week,’ which presents a new image of hanok as it expands beyond tourism into a space for everyday life, is themed ‘Everyday Life in Seoul Hanok’ and will offer diverse programs—including exhibitions, performances, and docent tours—that allow visitors to experience hanok spaces and their appeal.
