TOKYO MIDTOWN DESIGN LIVE runs for twenty days at Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi 👀 The venue brings together upscale shops, restaurants, art galleries and green space, so a visit can take you from an event stop to a meal or a stroll around the complex.
Shops and galleries: which one would you pair with your visit? Start with whichever sounds more like your pace, then leave room for the green space or a restaurant nearby 🙂 Tokyo Midtown’s mix of indoor places and open space gives you a few ways to shape the outing.
Admission is free, and Tokyo Midtown connects directly to Roppongi Station’s Oedo Line and Hibiya Line; Nogizaka Station is also a short walk away 👌 Pick the station that best fits your route through the city, especially if you want to avoid adding an extra leg on foot.
The venue is a large retail and restaurant complex, so you can make the visit more convenient by deciding in advance whether you want to browse, eat or spend time outdoors. If there is time for only one thing, take a walk around Tokyo Midtown and see how its galleries, green space and shops sit together 🤭

This annual design event, which this year explores the theme of ‘gazing’, sees the vast grass square adjacent to Tokyo Midtown host installations by an international cast of 19 artists and creators. Helmed by creative director and designer Taku Sato , the event also features a diverse programme of family-friendly events intended to help visitors rediscover the charm and value of design hidden in everyday life.
The main highlight is the aforementioned open-air ‘Design Live Exhibition’ on the Midtown lawn, featuring works such as ‘Sea Hammock’ by architect Yuko Nagayama , which makes its return to the event after four years. Elsewhere, catch some grooves at ‘Design Live Music’, where design and music intersect, or browse a selection of books and stationery at ‘Design Live Market’.
